The bottom line for our follow-through comes down to our emotional intensity. The more compelling we make our desired outcome the more it will pull us to take consistent action—and the more energy it will give us to employ willpower when necessary to breakthrough barriers and overcome obstacles.
Our desired outcome needs to be so compelling that it pulls us. If we have to push ourselves to take action it requires willpower and willpower never lasts. Willpower is effective when used in small intentional amounts at strategic moments.
The key is to be pulled by our outcome on a consistent basis while saving our willpower for instances when obstacles come up that require that little extra push to breakthrough and transform. When challenges push us we need to be able and willing to use willpower to push back to grow and move to the next level.
